The fairings between the strakes and the canopy were done by hotwiring blue foam to match at the firewall and taper to a smaller radius at the front. They were made hollow on the inside to
clear the canopy joints. Once they were in place (lots of lead pieces), I poured pour foam behind the blue foam. Net result- nice consistant outside shape bonded quite nicely to the underlying
structure with pour foam. Some hacksaw cutting to free the canopy from the fuselage, a bit of sanding, and ready to glass. |
